Geography and Landscapes

Lanzarote is characterized by its distinctive volcanic landscape, created by eruptions that took place in the 18th century. Timanfaya National Park, also known as Montañas del Fuego, is one of the island's most emblematic sites. The park offers impressive panoramas of black and red earth, craters and fields of solidified lava. Take a guided tour to discover this extraterrestrial terrain and observe spectacular geothermal demonstrations.

Culture and History

Lanzarote is also home to many cultural and historical sites. The César Manrique Foundation is a must for art lovers. Manrique, a local artist, has had a profound influence on the island's architecture, combining modern art with nature. His house, built from lava bubbles, is a work of art in itself.

The village of Teguise, 2 kms from Villa Dora (2 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot via a magnificent hill walk), former capital of the island, is rich in history and charm with its cobbled streets, ancient churches and lively Sunday market.

Gastronomy

The local cuisine is a blend of Spanish and African flavours. Specialities include ‘papas arrugadas’ (wrinkled potatoes) served with mojo (Canarian sauce), fresh fish, and locally produced wines, particularly wines from the La Geria wine region.
